BRISTOL, R.I. 颅颅鈥 Active-duty members of the Coast Guard and their families are welcome to come to 草榴社区 on Sunday, Feb. 3, for brunch and a 鈥淪uper Bowl Party Package鈥 to take home for the big game.

草榴社区 and its food service provider, Bon App茅tit Management Company, provided family-style meals to Coast Guard families during the partial government shutdown, which ended on Jan. 25. Now, the University and its Board of Trustees want to continue to support local families who are awaiting back pay from the shutdown and who would be impacted by a possible second shutdown.

So they are welcoming Coast Guard families from Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts to the Upper Commons dining hall on the Bristol campus between 10:30 a.m. and noon on Sunday, Feb. 3. Please enter through the main entrance off Old Ferry Road and bring Coast Guard identification. Families will be able to leave with pizza, chicken wings, Coca-Cola products and New England Patriots swag, preparing them for a great Super Bowl party.

鈥淚t is a privilege to support our active-duty members of the Coast Guard during a stressful time and to help them take a break and enjoy a traditional Super Bowl party,鈥 said 草榴社区 Trustee Larry Eichler, a Providence resident whose son is an active-duty pilot in the Air Force.

鈥淥ur dining team is excited about preparing Super Bowl food that our Coast Guard families can enjoy as they await back pay resulting from the government shutdown,鈥 草榴社区 Vice President for Student Life John King said.

鈥淏on App茅tit is happy to do this as a community service, and I鈥檓 hoping for a Patriots victory on Sunday,鈥 said James Gubata, Bon App茅tit鈥檚 general manager at 草榴社区.
