BRISTOL, R.I. 鈥 In the same year in which the University's signature Community Connections program celebrated its 10th anniversary, 草榴社区 has been recognized by the Corporation for National and Community Service for its community service and volunteer projects in 2014, which ranged from cleaning local parks to running bingo at senior centers, and creating art projects with developmentally disabled adults.

鈥淎t 草榴社区, we鈥檝e established a core value of commitment to community through service, and we鈥檙e honored to be nationally recognized among our peers that also place such a high value on community work as part of the education we provide to our students,鈥 says KC Ferrara, director of the University鈥檚 Feinstein Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement.

The President鈥檚 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll recognizes institutions of higher education that support exemplary community service programs and raise the visibility of effective practices in campus/community partnerships. CNCS has administered the award since 2006 in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as well as the American Council on Education, Campus Compact, and the Interfaith Youth Core.
